With any project, having all of the information available to help you make informed decisions is key. When it comes to selecting the right configuration of vessel and gangway for accessibility, having the right information is much more than just compatibility; it’s about being able to predict performance before you even begin.
Successful delivery is down to expert planning, ensuring that the right people are in the right place at the right time, and with all of the equipment and materials needed to complete the end job. It’s this strategic planning and identification of the best Marine Access solutions for the job that we’re all about.
North Star Renewables are leading the way to deliver Service Operation Vessels (SOV) with innovative integrated solutions to support the offshore wind industry. These SOVs provide access to offshore windfarms enabling essential maintenance to continue throughout the year, even in harsh weather conditions.
In preparing and planning the new basis of offer SOV, North Star Renewables turned to TSG Marine for expert analysis of operations, and to provide technical recommendations to ensure the development of a solution with maximum access opportunity.
As with every project we manage, facilitating the work to be done offshore is our priority. The data we gather and use to evaluate a walk to work project helps us to paint a picture of the environment you’re operating in and the potential future performance or success of a project. Our specialist team understands the challenges of working in harsh marine environments and our evaluation takes into account key project parameters such as available vessel motion characteristics and DP limits, gangway options and site-specific environmental conditions. Taking all of the data available we can provide a bespoke and impartial view on all possible options in a clear and compact format.
This iterative evaluation project has enables North Star Renewables to cost-effectively examine the implications of vessel and gangway configuration for a given location; in turn giving both them and their clients the confidence in knowing they can deliver technicians safely to turbines throughout the year.
North Star Renewables Andrew Duncan said ‘the insight TSG Marine gave to the operability, vessel characteristics and global performance gave an immediate footing to offer to the industry a high performance package focused on the safe offshore logistics of personnel and equipment.’
Erika Leadbeater, Managing Director, TSG Marine said “We were delighted to support NSR’s commitment to supply bespoke SOVs designed to support O&M efficiency. We believe the best decisions are based on data but shaped by experience. NSRs marine experience and their openness to being guided by the data, ensures their new solution will bring real value to the SOV market.”
